CZ P-09 NOCTURNE – Innovation Without Compromise

Shooters and their guns are like the body and soul. Synergy is crucial, especially when they must rely on each other. One of the prerequisites for achieving perfect synergy is having a firearm that provides maximum shooting comfort.

Attaining the perfect interplay of components that make a firearm as reliable, accurate, durable and user-friendly as possible is not an easy task. Fortunately, CZ has decades of experience in this area that it regularly draws upon on when developing new products.

One of the firearms in the CZ portfolio that has achieved long-term success is the CZ P-07, along with its larger counterpart, the CZ P-09. Both guns are based on the iconic CZ 75 pistol, which stunned the world when it made its debut in the 1970s. Without exaggeration, it set a new and, to some extent, still unsurpassed bar.

Despite the fact that a large part of the shooting community, including professionals, mainly require striker-fired pistols, there are many shooters that still prefer the traditional solution of a double-action trigger and hammer. CZ is one of the few manufacturers to respond to these demands by combining this traditional, time-tested system with modern manufacturing processes and materials. The result is a hammer-fired pistol with a lightweight and durable polymer frame, making it the ideal choice for a wide range of applications.

It’s been 16 years since the first CZ P-07, the so-called DUTY, was introduced to the market. Its superior performance earned it such a cult following that a second generation was released in 2013, just five years later. It was then joined that same year by a full-size version, the CZ P-09, which also became a bestseller. Over the past eleven years, CZ has been at the forefront of developments within our industry and responding to the evolution of customer demands. Case in point is the introduction of this new series. Modifications Without Limits

One of the frequent requests from users of our CZ P-07 and CZ P-09 pistols was the possibility of mounting a red dot sight. Since we are currently living in the “red dot ” era, we decided to fully embrace this trend with the new CZ P-09 NOCTURNE. Therefore, you are provided with the option of mounting your favorite red dot sight, the same as with the CZ P-10 OR and CZ SHADOW 2 OR pistols. The only difference is that red dot sights with the Shield RMS mounting interface can be mounted directly on the gun, without the need for mounting plates. This allows for the optics to have a lower profile, while maintaining co-witness. In fact, unlike the older version of the OR interface, the sights remain in place even after mounting the red dot sight. In the event of damage or failure of the optics, you can continue shooting with fixed sights.

The fixed sights feature luminescent dots for more intuitive shooting. A tritium sight version will also be available for selected markets. After all, the NOCTURNE should be able to see at night.

But that’s not all. If you decide to shoot the pistol without a red dot sight, we have designed the rear sight so it can be used for emergency cocking against a suitable surface. In other words – the CZ P-09 NOCTURNE is ready to deal with all types of situations. How about you?

The pistol is also equipped with traditional MIL-STD-1913 rails, giving you the possibility to mount a tactical flashlight, laser sight or any other accessory. The choice is yours.

Everything is Geared for High Comfort

We believe that well-thought-out ergonomics are absolutely critical for shooting accurately. Our extensive experience in this area has been put to good use with the new CZ P-09 NOCTURNE. We have combined the optimum grip angle with a new texturing that ensures a firm and secure grip in all conditions. In addition to this pattern on the grip, we have extended it to include the area between the trigger guard and beaver tail. This texturing can also be found in front of the slide catch/release lever on both sides of the frame and on the magazine base. The now perfected grip can then be fine-tuned to fit your hand with easily interchangeable backstraps, which come in three sizes.

Controls on the pistol have also changed. The new shape of the slide catch/release lever, manual safety, and decocker allow for more intuitive and confident operation. We have also adjusted their profiles, so they do not interfere with the shooter.

A further change is the addition of enhanced cocking serrations on the front of the slide, allowing for a more secure grip during press checks.

Superb Trigger Pull in Both Modes

The simplified construction of the Omega’s trigger mechanism draws from the best features of the CZ 75 system and adds the option of a user-replaceable trigger release safety, the so-called decocker. The trigger has unmatched, butter smooth pull with a crisp break in both modes. The advantage of double-action mode is increased safety provided by the first shot, combined with reduced pull for all shots that follow. The shape of the trigger blade and spacious combat trigger guard allow for comfortable shooting, even with gloves on.

The Benchmark of Reliability

Reliability is probably the most important feature of the pistol. During development of the CZ P-07 and P-09 product lines, emphasis was placed on their flawless operation, regardless of environmental conditions. To verify that the CZ P-09 NOCTURNE met the strict criteria set at the beginning of its development, it was put though several extremely demanding tests according to NATO AC/225 D/14 to ensure reliable operation in the most challenging conditions, such as high and low temperatures, salt water, sand, mud and dust. It passed with flying colors. The new CZ P-09 NOCTURNE not only retains these impressive qualities, but in some respects, even improves upon them. Shooters can fully rely on it in any situation, anywhere in the world.
